John J. Kirkpatrick, IV (“JJK”) is a lifelong servant-leader, educator, and advocate committed to building a stronger, fairer, and more united future for the people of Union and Anson Counties.

A proud graduate of Forest Hills High School and Morris College, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science, John has devoted nearly 20 years to education, working to ensure that every child—no matter their ZIP code, family income, or circumstance—has access to opportunity, support, and success.

John is the Founder and CEO of The Village Development Center, where he continues to invest in the growth, potential, and futures of young people and families. He is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He also serves as Senior Pastor of Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church in Marshville, offering spiritual leadership, compassion, and guidance to families across the region.

His commitment to justice and equity extends beyond the church and classroom. John proudly serves as:

  • 1st Vice President of the NAACP of Union County

  • Board Chair of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council

  • Current District 1 Representative on the Union County Board of Education (appointed March 2021)

Across every role, title, and assignment, one thing remains constant: John believes in people. He believes that strong communities are built through unity, fairness, accountability, and compassion. He listens deeply, works collaboratively, and stands boldly for those whose voices often go unheard.
